Henry Feldhaus

Major: Mechanical Engineering (2021)
Hometown: Geneva, IL

Henry has been on Illini Solar Car’s mechanical subgroup for the past year, mainly working on suspension. He joined ISC because it’s an opportunity for him to apply the engineering principles learned in class to real-world problems. “As a mechanical engineer, the design and manufacturing processes are codependent, and being able to utilize this fact is a hard principle to teach in the classroom; thanks to ISC, I have already begun picking up important pieces of information that will make me a better engineer when I graduate.” Henry helped with updates on Argo to make the vehicle meet regulations for the American Solar Challenge, including the redesign and installation of a latch for the top shell. He’s looking forward to the suspension design process for ISC’s next solar car. Henry can’t wait to see Argo in action at ASC. He and the team have worked hard this semester to make sure the car and the crew are well prepared for the competition. With a bit of good luck (and lots of sun) he thinks the team will compete very well! Henry is part of Army ROTC at University of Illinois and enjoys woodworking, running, doing Crossfit.
