About Delos

In the fall of 2024, Illini Solar Car set out on a mission to build its fastest, toughest, and most capable car to date and race it in the 2026 American Solar Challenge. In the summer of 2026, after completing its first ever two-year build and design cycle, our team finally realized that dream with Delos, Illini Solar Car's fourth-generation vehicle.


Boasting a 6-square meter solar array, our latest and most innovative composites, entire new dynamics systems, and our most efficient electrical subsystems to date, Delos is the most powerful car conceived by our team to date and the most capable vehicle to have been raced by our team.


Though far from perfect and expecting many more upgrades, Delos' development and subsequent deployment have driven Illini Solar Car into a new age, and this car will continue to power the team's successes for many more years to come.
